If you’d like to experience something additional to ski and snowboard when in Rusutsu, go for a skidoo (snowmobile) ride! You can go to one of the nearby fields and enjoy speed to the bottom of your heart. Push the excelorater of your skidoo and feel how it picks up speed. I don’t know how birds feel when they fly but the sense of freedom you get when your skidoo picks up speed seems similar to me. It may sound funny but whenever I do such a ride I scream so loudly that have a sore throat later! All the negative emotions that have been stuck inside go out and dissolve in the air together with the sound of your voice. You feel tired and exhausted when getting home but at the same time relieved and happy.
You can also go to skidoo towards the mountains (at the backside of Romulus) in the trees to see a different beauty there. You won’t be able to enjoy speed in this ride but you’ll be able to feel yourself very close to nature and enjoy its tranquility. I’ll recommend going on a sunny day to enjoy the peaceful feeling of the sun rays coming through tree branches and making snow glitter as if covered with millions of diamonds. I love the view that you can see from up there, magnificent Mt. East and Mt. Isola look like they are on your palm. However, I personally prefer to be in the trees where you are away from civilization, just yourself and gorgeous tree. I’ve been there tens and tens of times, and I still get impressed whenever I go there. How could trees and branches get so weirdly shaped? How did they get covered in snow so beautifully? Some of them are just slightly covered, others look as if they are wearing fancy snow hats. You can also enjoy animals’ footprints and imagine how a hare, a squirrel, a fox or even a deer ran by the same trees you are skidooing through. I always wonder where from and where to they go. Do they have a home with babies waiting for them, or do they sleep under a different tree every night? However, even enjoying this beauty you shouldn’t forget that you are driving a skidoo with a couple of meters of snow underneath. You should remember to stop you skidoo facing the bottom of the mountain, preferably in places where snow is not fluffy powder whenever you decide to stop and enjoy the view otherwise you’ll have to spend quite a while digging the skidoo out of snow! Well, some of you may think it gives an adventurous feeling to the ride but I should tell you it’s really hard work to make your skidoo go once it’s stuck in snow. I spent 40 minutes pulling a skidoo out of powder with a friend of mine in one of my previous rides. He said it was not that bad, but I bet he was trying to be polite. It’d have been much nicer to spend this 40 min enjoying riding the skidoo rather than digging it out of snow. Any way I am sure skidoo is one of the best experiences you can have when in Rusutsu.
