Those of you coming back to Rusutsu for the summer may notice some changes since your last visit. The entire highway 230 has been widened and repaved for the G-8 summit. The roads back to the new housing have been improved and a new storm drain system has been put in. Getting around has never been easier.
Our new Australian resident in Rusutsu and her friend worked very hard putting in a new decorative garden. Now they have a lovely spot to enjoy a drink while listening to all the birds singing in the woods nearby. For one of the ladies, it was the first visit to Hokkaido in the summertime and she says "I was inspired by the mountains around me. I can`t believe the colors on the mountain can be that bright."
Lots of our guests from Australia have only been here in the winter. So they`re always a bit surprised at the vast amount of color in the landscape. In the early spring many of the trees have a red cast to them while the buds are forming. And then by summer the whole area is covered in rich emerald green, right up to the top of the mountains. Everywhere you look is a view fit for a travel poster.
When the time came for the ladies to leave she teared up a bit, and who can blame her. But she`s already looking forward to coming back at the end of summer, saying "I can`t wait to try golf in the area because the courses here look so gorgeous.
